About Paul Plakos
I've found that effective, long-lasting change occurs when we stop trying to be different, and become aware of what we are. Once we become aware of how we interrupt our needs from being met, then choice and change are possible. We learned ways of being in the world in order to survive physically, cognitively or emotionally. What we learned might not have been the healthiest approach, but at one point we perceived it as the best way to handle a situation. What we learned became part of our character; unconscious and automatic. And as part of our character we sometimes use what we learned where it doesn’t belong (an anachronism – in the wrong time). Through therapy, we can become aware of what we are doing, develop choice, and become unstuck in our responses. Then we can resolve that which needs resolving; feel whole, with more peace in our life.
