About Michelle Shariat-Hansen
I believe that people have a great capacity to grow and change through therapy. My goal is to help my clients better understand themselves by developing greater insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and by gaining effective tools and strategies to relieve symptoms. To facilitate this process, I provide a warm, supportive and nurturing environment with respectful and non-judgmental listening to your personal concerns. I am also proactive in our sessions, meaning that I ask thought provoking questions, use encouragement, and offer new perspectives and tools. As your awareness grows, you will discover how certain emotions/beliefs/behaviors have shaped your life and relationships, and you will become empowered to make important changes.

I believe each person’s situation is unique and my treatment approach is individualized; it can be short-term or long-term depending on your particular needs and goals. Because I see therapy as an interactive and collaborative process, my goal is for you to feel comfortable and safe in sharing your personal story.

I integrate several therapeutic approaches including CBT, DBT, mindfulness training, and insight oriented therapies. I treat a wide variety of problems and concerns with special expertise in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders. I also have specialized training in EMDR to heal trauma/PTSD.
