About Judith Sitzman
Dr. Judy Sitzman received her doctoral degree in Nursing from the University of California at San Francisco. She gave up a successful career in academia to become a therapist. While a Professor in Nursing, she completed a three year Postgraduate Training Program in Psychotherapy at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy. At the institute she studied with social workers, psychologists, and other nurses. Her training focused on the significance of the therapeutic relationship within depth psychotherapy. She has been in practice for over 20 years in Sonoma County. She sees individual adults and couples from diverse backgrounds and facilitates therapy groups for adults.

Dr. Sitzman believes in creating a safe, supportive place where people can openly discuss their emotional pain. She sees therapy as a unique journey in self-discovery through which people can understand and overcome emotional struggles, build self-confidence, and experiment with new behaviors. Being a nurse and therapist, she also works with adults coping with multiple losses due to trauma or a physical illness. Whether using an in depth psychotherapy approach, or crisis intervention skills, Dr. Sitzman is committed to listening to each person’s story. Working with individuals or couples in a collaborative way, she helps them define and meet their needs, tap their inner resources, and achieve a more satisfying life.
