About Bob Barrows
Years before I became interested in psychology, I milked cows, mowed hay,
and blew cut corn into a silo. After four years aboard a Navy ship,
college, some teaching, and graduate school, I raised a family and moved
to California. I worked at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for ten years. Fourteen
years ago, I became one of the founding members of PsychStrategies.
In my role as a counseling psychologist, I draw upon my life experience. I now focus on working with adults of all ages. Issues and concerns that people bring to my office are often about relationships – couple’s counseling. Some people are dealing with grief, loss, death and dying issues; others are experiencing anxiety and depression. My personal life experience with these issues has been helpful in my work with others. I have also been privileged to work with a lot of men’s issues.
I’m old enough to have learned that the willingness to confront our issues, seek some help, and gain some new perspectives can go a long way to lighten the load or ease the pain.
When I am not
working, I enjoy reading a good novel, hiking, bike riding, working in
the garden with my wife, and baseball. We also enjoy taking camping trips
with our children.
