Alissa Hirshfeld-Flores, MFTAbout Alissa Hirshfeld-Flores
I offer psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, children, and families, providing personalized and thoughtful support and guidance to help you create more satisfaction in your life. I have 20 years experience working with diverse ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles.

People usually seek therapy from a desire to live a more satisfying and authentic life. Often, people are seeking more fulfillment from their relationships, their work, or their lives in general. You may be struggling to accept circumstances you did not choose, to adjust to a transition in your life, or to end behaviors that you recognize are not serving you.

With adults and adolescents, I tailor my approach to your presenting issues. I have extensive training in Jungian and depth psychotherapy (which may include examining your early family history, looking at your dreams, or using creative expression). For some situations, a solution-oriented or cognitive behavioral approach is more effective, and I also draw on those techniques. I am welcoming, warm, and inquisitive, and I use humor and compassion to help in the healing process. Some of my areas of specialty include grief and loss, life transitions, pregnancy and postpartum issues, and spiritual or existential concerns.

With children, I draw upon art, play, and sandtray therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, as well as the relationship that develops between us. Children learn to express feelings they may not be able to articulate, learn more adaptive behaviors, or improve interpersonal relationships. Parents are included in the treatment plan.
